Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner’s 2019/20 Budget has provided funding for a number of projects that improve the amenity of our area. Some of that work will be obvious and some will not.

Over two million dollars has been committed to replacing kerb and channel infrastructure in various suburbs. A similar amount is committed for road resurfacing projects.

Our area includes significant industrial and commercial areas in Pinkenba and Eagle Farm where a significant number of Brisbane residents from across the city go to work every day.

The roads and infrastructure in these streets are just as important to maintain as our residential streets.
Holt Street Pinkenba, for example, is overdue for resurfacing and the cost of that project alone will be over three quarters of a million dollars.

Over four hundred thousand dollars is committed to replacing bridge handrails over an open drain in Curtain Avenue East to improve safety.

The Lord Mayor has funded in this budget a significant project, to cost over half a million dollars, in Lava rack Avenue Eagle Farm, to fix issues relating to parking in the median strips in the industrial zone.

Over three million dollars is committed to the rehabilitation of the boardwalk at Brett’s Wharf, work that ultimately will not be seen but is crucial to maintaining important infrastructure.

Other’beneath the surface’ projects include drainage projects in Grafton Street Windsor, Hutcheson Street in Albion and Railway Parade in Clayfield.

I’m pleased that two million dollars has been committed to bikeways, forViolia Place to Schneider Road at Brisbane Airport and for the connection from the North Brisbane Bikeway at Bridge St to Bradshaw Street in Lutwyche. The carpark at the Albion Post Office will be resurfaced in this financial year.

Finally, the work will be completed just across the border in Northgate Ward to provide a signalised intersection on Widdop St Nundah into the Toombul Shopping Centre, a project that Northgate Councillor Adam Allan and I collaborated to see get done this financial year.
