Pensacola Convoy Place Signboard

On 29 November 1941, a US convoy escorted by the cruiser USS Pensacola left Pearl Harbor on its way to Manila to reinforce the Philippines. The convoy diverted to Brisbane once hostilities commenced and its arrival in Brisbane on December 22 1941 began the Australia/US alliance which resulted in Allied Victory in the Pacific in 1945.
